My favorite would have to be In & Out with Kevin Kline, which I just watched again a few nights ago. Watching a closeted gay man denying himself the right to be who he was and on the verge of getting married simply because it was the expected thing to do really hit home with me. Even with such a weighty subject matter, the movie is a comedy and is hysterical. This movie, in fact, gave me the courage to come out because I saw how utterly silly I was being in denying the obvious. I have never regretted it since. If you have never seen this movie, do yourself a favor and rent it. I know you'll enjoy it as much as I do.
P.S. Watch for great performances by Joan Cusack (who steals the show) and Tom Selleck.
I have so many fav gay themed movies but one of the best for me is Big Eden. Quite simple but a movie with lots of heart, a small town accepting a gay artist in their midst.
If I think of my favorite movie which has gay contents, then I think of "Latter Day" first. Why? Because I knew a young man, which were gay and also a missionary. He had an affair with his companion (everything happened here in Berlin) and got home skillful. At home he fell in depressions and tried to commit suicide. He is married now and has children because the pressure of his family and the LDS was too big for him to gain acceptance. Sometimes we write to us and he tells me of his real feelings and fears. I have does fear, that one day he make suicide! Would lesbian movies also count? Then "It's in The water"! Why? Because the homophobia of American little towns is taken the piss out of so marvelously there! Because their bigotry, their hypocrisy and their superseding are shown.
When I think of my favorite movie with gay content, I think of "Latter Days" first. Why? Because I knew a young man who was gay and also a missionary. He had an affair with his companion (everything happened here in Berlin) and got sent back home. At home he fell into depression and tried to commit suicide. He is married now and has children--the pressure of his family and the LDS made it too hard for him to accept himself. Sometimes he writes to us and he tells me of his real feelings and fears. I fear that one day he make suicide!
Would lesbian movies also count? Then I would pick "It's in the Water"! Why? Because the homophobia of America’s little towns is so marvelously depicted there! The film shows their bigotry and their hypocrisy.
I agree with Ron's choice. Big Eden is the winner. It's nice to see a movie where being gay can be in the minority, but not an oddity. Normal people living normal lives; A beautiful movie.
My favorite gay-themed movie is Drift, although Brokeback Mountaint is a very close second. I just posted on this subject at my blog, The Different Stroke.
Brokeback Mountain. No other gay-themed movie has opened the minds of so many people.
It flung open the barn door and exposed the myth that homosexuals cannot love.
Each time I view the movie I get another perspective that I missed when I first saw it in the movie theater. Aside from understanding the mumblings of Heath (thanks to subtitles) there were aspects of his dealings with Jack’s Mother and Father at the end I missed the first go around.
That movie has now let the horse out of the barn. (Another farm/cowboy analogy thrown in.)
I would have to say “Imagine Me and You” lesbian-wise, but “Eating Out 2 (Sloppy Seconds)” is freaking hilarious! Kind of rowdy, but funny as heck! And you can’t forget “Broken Hearts Club.” My brother, sis and I quote that movie like crazy.
There are so many great and or simply of interest films out there for the gay LDS community. Some are for everyone. Others are NOT for the easily offended.
As a producer/writer and gay Mormon I tend to screen anything and everything that has to do with any or all of us.
That which follows is my unedited roster.
Get your popcorn popped, sit back and enjoy (or not).

I also liked "Latter Days," I am even buying the DVD of it. The reason I like it, is because I can relate to it. I have been Gay all my life. Still, I went on a mission to Philly, PA and I fell in love with 11 companions. I restrained myself, and did not break any of the rules. I did attempt suicide on my mission. I was sent to a Psychiatrist on my mission. After my mission, I finally came out, had boyfriends and was excommunicated. I have been rebaptized, but cant get my blessings restored, even though I have been celibate for 4 years now. I cannot figure out what I love more, the Church or Boys. All my life I have leaned toward the Church, but in the last few months I have shifted toward "Boys" Mr. Robin Lee Johnson
I am very glad to see such information; resources like the one you mentioned here will be very useful to us. This is very nice one and gives in-depth information.

Lilies, a great story about how we relate, and what can happen to us as we get older.

I have a couple - What gay person would not want "Antie Mame" to their Aunt? (ONLY Rosaland Russell). Priscilla Queen of the Desert....
If you haven't seen "Imagine Me and You" then you are missing the best lesbian film EVER! Gay men love it too.
I recently saw Say Uncle. It's a cute movie...and very clean. I only heard two inappropriate words.
